Here is a quick break-down of all six Super League games taking place in Round 1, as well as their predictor weightings…
Wigan Warriors v Leigh Leopards
Round 1 kicks off with a showpiece Battle of the Borough between local rivals Wigan and Leigh at The Brick Community Stadium.
The Warriors, who are the current champions, have won 13 of their 14 Super League meetings with the Leopards and had impeccable home form last season.
The Leopards haven’t had much luck in their Round 1 history – they have lost their opening game in each of their five seasons in Super League.
Matt Peet’s men are the favourites for this one, but who are you backing?
Weighted predictions: Warriors (4 points), Leopards (6 points)
Hull KR v Castleford Tigers
Friday night sees high flying Hull KR host Castleford Tigers. The Robins have won 17 of their last 19 Super League home games and are strong favourites heading into Round 1.
But who do you fancy to win?
Weighted predictions: Robins (2 points), Tigers (8 points)
Catalans Dragons v Hull FC
It’s a trip to Perpignan for John Cartwright’s newly looking side, but they will face a tough test as the Dragons have won nine of their last 10 Super League meetings with the Black & Whites.
Predicting Catalans could bank you 3 points if they win on Friday night, whereas Hull are firm underdogs, and predicting them to win could earn you seven points should they emerge victorious in the south of France…
Weighted predictions: Dragons (3 points), FC (7 points)
Leeds Rhinos v Wakefield Trinity
There’s a West Yorkshire derby over at AMT Headingley Stadium on Saturday, as Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity meet for the first time since 2023.
The Rhinos have won six of their last eight Super League games against Trinity but did lose their last league meeting in June 2023.
Leeds have had much better success than Wakefield where Round 1 wins are concerned, but their most recent encounter saw a tight game on Boxing Day, with Leeds clinching an 18-6 victory.
Will the Rhinos get off to a flying start? Or will Trinity take the two points in their first game back in Super League?
Weighted predictions: Rhinos (2 points), Trinity (8 points)
St Helens v Salford Red Devils
We’re heading to the Totally Wicked Stadium on Saturday night, as St Helens host Salford Red Devils.
St Helens have won 30 of their 31 home games against Salford in the Super League. This is with the exception of a 20-24 home defeat in Round 4 last season, where the Red Devils ended the 44-year winless run away at Saints in dramatic fashion.
Saints did later beat the Red Devils at home in golden point in Round 21, however.
Could we be in for another close contest?
Weighted predictions: Saints (6 points), Red Devils (4 points)
Huddersfield Giants v Warrington Wolves
The final game of Round 1 has Huddersfield Giants going head-to-head Warrington Wolves at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Giants have lost each of their last five meetings with the Wolves in Super League, including both to nil last season (0-48 away, 0-66 home).
That 0-66 home loss to the Wolves in Round 26 was their biggest home defeat in the competition this century, but it’s a brand-new season, so anything could happen…
Weighted predictions: Giants (7 points), Wolves (3 points)
